And in panic overdrive.
Blake went on his first field trip on Friday. It was a great time according to him, though he was sad that I wasn't able to go.
(I seem to have issues with sunshine in all of my photos this week, but in my defense, it's the first time we'd seen it in a while and all of the windows and blinds were open in celebration)
I did manage to finally obtain a lovely dress for the wedding. And so I spent Friday afternoon trying to find jewelry and hunt down pantyhose in my size. Apparently, we no longer wear hose with feet anymore? What's the deal with that (I'm looking at you Target)?
I also fell in love with a pair of green pants. They were a steal and I want to wear them every day until my husband hides them from me because they remind him of Kermit the Frog.
(did I forget to mention how cheap they were, because they were ohmygodcheap)
Thankfully, the photos of this event have not been shown to me yet. And if I can't see it, it didn't happen!
Afterward, we joined friends at Northgate. Because that's the place a bunch of 30 year olds should hang out on a Friday night, dressed in party dresses and suits. But, it was still fun and we were still home and in bed before we could turn into pumpkins.
The weather was beautiful this weekend and so the boys all spend Saturday and Sunday out back playing and helping their dad rebuild our fence, which was blown over during the hurricane force winds that came through here Tuesday (and yes, I realize they weren't really hurricane force, but if it gives you something to roll your eyes about, feel free to do so). They reset the posts, reinforced the old boards and got it back up.
(the finished product, thanks to our super fabulous neighbors)
Saturday night, we had planned on grilling the assload of chicken we've had stuffed in our freezer forever, but the day's work caught up with Mr. BFG and we settled on burgers for the kids instead and stopped by our sad little Blockbuster that's closing soon in the hopes that we could stock up on some deals.
(note that I didn't say "good" deals, because...yeah)
Other highlights from Saturday....
I love this shirt. Seriously adorable, right? It's one of our auction items from a local boutique and if they hadn't given me the tiniest size possible (as in, Size Anorexic And/Or Twelve Year Old Undeveloped Girl) I'd just go ahead and keep it.
And also, this happened. Before I'd had the opportunity to have my coffee or clean our bedroom (eek).
We spent our Sunday outside and trying to get everything and everyone organized for Monday. It mostly worked. I watched Changeling (sad and creepy), Cast Away (depressing) and Black Swan (sad, creepy and depressing) while I folded laundry and made a grocery list (and didn't go to the store).
And then we wrapped up the evening like this...

I know that you wrote about a bunch of stuff, but I really never got past the green pants. Now I want a pair. Where did you get those bad girls????
@ Robin- check the clearance rack at your local Macy's. I have found so many great and colorful pants there lately. Colored bottoms have been all the rage and coming late to the party means awesome stuff at kick ass prices right now!
Sorry Gini for taking over the comments section there for a second...
And now I HAVE to find that awesome Texas shirt because I am SO feeling that right now.
I love your random posts and I so wish there was a picture of you guys doing the sweet laugh/cry to your song dance because that is just the sort of thing I adore. :)
Hi Gini-
Thanks for asking about what my husband does for work. We need all the help we can get in somehow finding a position in Texas! So in case you don't see the answer I left for you over on my blog-
my husband is a property/casualty actuary, about to achieve the ACAS designation. If all of that sounds like gobbelty gook, you are normal. Actuaries are few and far between. And actuaries that are good with the numbers AND can explain themselves well to the general public are even more rare. I guess that's what you get from a math/English major!
There are currently about 5400 people in the country that do exactly what my husband does and if we wanted to be on either coast we could do it tomorrow. The issue is that there are not very many insurance related jobs in Texas, especially in the property/casualty field. We have now made contact with 27 different people in Texas in this arena and yet we have found they want people either at the entry level or at the top- really nothing in between.
But as I have said, we are not willing to give up. We love the Houston area the most out of what we have seen, but anything Texas is better than what we've got going here!
I should also tell you that my husband has 10 years experience in the Natural Gas industry and has half of the program to be accredited in risk management fulfilled as well. So he would be willing to go into risk management for an energy company, which might work best for getting to Texas!
Green pants...love it! I need a pair of my very own Kermit pants too, haha.
