A Monday Mashup...

You know you're getting older when you're excited you fell asleep before 10:00 and got just over eight full hours of sleep the night before. You're cheerful and don't have to rely quite so much on coffee to carry you through the morning. And it's Monday. So, I feel like I'm basically winning at life today and it's not even 9:00 yet!

We had quite the weekend up in here. Extremely eventful and dotted with a couple of milestones! So, here's a little recap in pictures...

First, I got my hair cut on Friday. I don't think it's been this short since I was in, like, 6th grade maybe. But, I am in love with it and I think it's perfect for Spring (hey, I live in Texas, so basically it starts like, today).

(thank God for Instagram filter)

I spent most of my Saturday looking for a dress/outfit suitable for two weddings and Easter. I would have preferred to spend my day cleaning up vomit or giving birth because it was the most depressing and frustrating experience. Definitely one of those things where if I wasn't looking for it, I would have found a hundred different items that fit me perfectly, were in the right price range, and totally fit the venues.

I have no photos of this particular day. Just sharing the fact that I was pretty much hating life on Saturday.

Oh wait. Nope, I forgot about this one, which made my heart pitter-patter with glees, because it's thisclose to being baseball season and I swear to God my reworked Texas Rangers lineup had better be awesome.

Moving on...

A week or two ago, Mr. BFG and I decided we'd get off the sauce and see what happened. We made it a full seven days before we looked at each other at the grocery store and immediately wandered over to the beer/wine aisle. So our new pact is, "no boozing it up during the week, but weekends...totally fine!"

Which is good really, because we will be attending two weddings and since I'm probably gonna have to go naked, it'd be best if I was able to drink first. And so we picked up some beer and a bottle of cheap red wine (which was delicious) and then we grilled these things.

They're called Armadillo Eggs. Peppers stuffed with cheese, wrapped in ground beef and basted with BBQ sauce. They were delicious and I was so full that I crashed in the boys' room snuggled up with Reese (until 2:00 am when my hips started hurting because I'm old).

Yesterday was crazy and hectic. Mr. BFG and I were wide awake at 5:00 am, so we laid in bed and talked and laughed until it was time for church. We actually made it to the early service, which is something we've been wanting to do for a while but haven't felt like putting in the effort. But, with everything we had going on, it worked perfectly.

We got home just in time to make a stack of birthday pancakes for this hungry kiddo, who turned 13 yesterday (gah, THIRTEEN!) and was kind enough to take time out from his active social life to grace us with his presence for a few hours. And I didn't even cry once (although, I do feel like a giant failure of a mom for not matching last year's bedroom makeover hoopla).

(worst family photo ever, I mean honestly even Instagram couldn't save this one as much as I tried...also, I'm gonna have to start a #photobombingtwin meme)

From there, we went to the boys' preschool BBQ lunch and auction where all of this happened....

(in case you didn't know already, Blake lost his first tooth Monday night...more on that in a minute)

(Riley)

(Reese. Because, every family needs that one kid who does stuff like this...)

So, after the boys ate, we took some pictures with Kaboom, the Brazos Valley Bombers mascot. And by "we," I mean Riley and Blake did while Reese literally hid under the table. Because of course he did.

And then, they went out to play in the bounce house, where Riley and Blake collided, causing this to happen...

I spent the remainder of my Sunday covered in glitter, thanks to a carnival decorating day at Blake's school. The boys spent the day outside with their daddy, hauling bricks and stones from our neighbor's house over to ours so we can build a patio (yay!) and line a couple of bush and flower beds. I have no pictures of these events, because I was in the car with the 13 year old toting him all over town and learning to accept the fact that this is basically my life now.

Honestly, how can you not adore this crazy family?!
